Copper Plating Services for Small and Large Electrical Equipment Parts

M.I.P., Inc. offers copper plating services for small and large electrical equipment parts. We can meet all your copper plating requirements and specifications and we possess capabilities to service all major industries including:

  • Military
  • Automotive
  • Aerospace, and
  • Electrical Industries

Copper provides a soft, ductile and solderable surface and has the following advantages:

  • Copper has excellent leveling properties
  • It acts as an undercoat for most of the metals
  • Copper is highly ductile and thereby polishes easily to a high shine, so that it supports a bright, shiny finishing metal above it
  • Copper has the ability to fill sharp corners and level the surface imperfections, allowing smooth and uniform coverage of the base metal
  • Copper makes an excellent undercoat on aluminum, which is a base metal that most other metals will not attach to

Three basic types of copper plating processes are commercially available based upon the systems used. They are:

  • Alkaline-(several modifications of cyanide and non-cyanide)
  • Acid-(sulfate and fluoborate), and
  • Mildly alkaline-(pyro phosphate)

We ensure that our copper plating process conforms to MIL C 1455 standards. We use a two 285 gallon tanks for our plating processes. We also have in-house equipment such as thickness measurement instruments and X-ray machine to the measure thickness of precision parts and components. MIP is a certified Class Two vendor of the ISO 9002 quality system. We have drum or rack plating capabilities for larger and delicate parts that are prone to easier damage. Rack plating is performed by hanging the parts to be plated on racks with stiff wires that hold the parts firmly ensuring efficient plating. Racking is ideal for grouping individual parts together with electrical continuity so that the individual parts can be plated as a group. This facilitates increased productivity and lower pricing than individually electroplating the same parts.
