Zinc Plating Services

M.I.P., Inc. offers the flexibility to handle production runs of varying sizes to suit your zinc plating needs, with a strong emphasis on quality. Our zinc plating services serve the following industries:

  • Military
  • Automotive
  • Aerospace, and
  • Electrical Industries

Zinc is a bluish-white deposit, which serves as a decorative and inexpensive protective metal with the following advantages:

  • Acts as a coating against atmospheric corrosion of iron and steel parts
  • Zinc coatings prevent oxidation by forming a barrier and acting as a sacrificial anode when the barrier is damaged
  • Zinc oxide is a fine white dust that prevents the breakdown of the substrate's surface integrity as it forms

Zinc plating is further protected by the application of post-plate treatments such as chromates and sealers. We offer chromates that provide an additional layer of protection.
Our chromate options include the following:

  • Trivalent yellow chromate with salt spray protection of 120 hours
  • Trivalent clear chromate with protection of 96 hours

Our zinc plating process conforms to the following standards:

  • ASTM B 633
  • QQ Z 325
  • 83246

We have a two 400 gallon tanks for our zinc plating process. We also have in-house equipment such as thickness measurement instruments and X-ray machine to measure thickness of precision parts and components. MIP is a certified Class Two vendor of the ISO 9002 quality system. We have drum or rack plating capabilities for larger and delicate parts that are prone to easier damage. Rack plating is performed by hanging the parts to be plated on racks with stiff wires that hold the parts firmly ensuring efficient plating. Racking is ideal for grouping individual parts together with electrical continuity so that the individual parts can be plated as a group. This facilitates increased productivity and lower pricing than individually electroplating the same parts.
